UX & Product Designer (contract)

Remote (U.S.) · 6-Month Contract · 30–40 hrs/week

About Design at Ronik

Ronik designs and builds enterprise platforms, digital experiences, and brand systems for media, technology, and mission-driven organizations. We work end-to-end—from strategy and design through engineering and long-term platform stewardship—helping clients launch new initiatives, modernize legacy systems, and create digital products that drive engagement, operational efficiency, and revenue growth.

Our team supports organizations including NBCUniversal, GE HealthCare, and JFK Terminal 4, and our design work spans corporate and marketing sites, complex web apps and digital platforms, and ground-up product builds for startups. We collaborate closely across disciplines, giving every designer meaningful ownership over the work they help shape, build, and evolve.

The Role

We’re looking for a UX & Product Designer to lead design across a core client platform—spanning both the product experience and the corporate/marketing site—as part of our growing design team. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role for someone who thinks in systems, moves fluidly between product and brand, and is energized by fast-paced, high-craft agency work.

While the core of this role is product and UX design, we’re drawn to designers who wear a lot of hats—people who can shape a UI flow, or sharpen a brand expression, from web to social to collateral. Beyond the primary client engagement, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to other concurrent client work.

This position begins as a 6-month contract, with the possibility of extending an additional 3–6 months or converting to full-time, depending on project needs and mutual fit.

If you’re excited about the work but don’t meet every single requirement, we still highly encourage you to apply.

What You’ll Do

  • Own UX and product design, from flows and information architecture through high-fidelity UI
  • Design a corporate/marketing site experience alongside the product
  • Translate strategy and stakeholder input into wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready designs
  • Partner closely with engineering to scope, annotate, and hand off implementable, well-documented designs
  • Collaborate with the design team, sharing feedback and raising the bar on craft
  • Present and defend design decisions directly to clients and internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to design systems, patterns, and documentation that other designers can build on

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of UX/product design experience, ideally including agency or client-services environments
  • A portfolio demonstrating strong UX thinking across web apps, platforms, or complex digital products
  • Experience owning a project from early concept through launch and iteration
  • Experience presenting and defending design work directly to clients or senior stakeholders
  • Comfort moving between product, UX, and visual/brand expression as a project requires
  • Strong command of Figma, including components, variants, and design systems
  • Solid understanding of UX principles, information architecture, and interaction design
  • Familiarity with dev handoff workflows and what’s realistic to build, informed by modern web technologies to craft compelling front-end experiences
  • Working knowledge of AI tools in the design process—building AI-integrated product features or working alongside LLM-powered functionality, not just using AI as a shortcut in your own workflow
  • Self-directed and comfortable owning ambiguity across a fast-moving project
  • A clear communicator who can explain the “why” behind a decision, not just show the work
  • Energized by a fast-paced, high-craft studio environment
  • Based in the U.S. and available for regular overlap with U.S. Eastern or Central hours
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

Bonus Points

  • Experience in brand design, visual identity, extending brand systems across touchpoints
  • Experience facilitating client workshops or leading discovery sessions
  • Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of other designers
  • Experience contributing to proposals, pitches, or new business efforts
  • Experience with enterprise-scale design systems

Working at Ronik

  • Flexible hours—we work across time zones and trust you to manage your schedule
  • Direct collaboration with designers, engineers, and leadership across projects
  • Real ownership over your projects, from concept to launch and beyond
  • The opportunity to see your work launch, evolve, and shape a growing agency
  • Strong contributors will have the opportunity to grow into a senior leadership role on the design team over time
  • If the role converts to full-time, benefits include comprehensive healthcare coverage, 401(k), paid holidays, learning stipend, home office stipend, unlimited sick days, and generous paid time off

Compensation

  • This role begins as a 6-month contract at 30–40 hrs/week, with the potential to extend
  • Hourly contract rate: $60–75/hour, depending on experience
  • Full-time compensation, if the role converts, will be discussed at that time based on scope and experience
